A PASSION FOR WOODWORKING

Hi, I'm Tara–owner and maker at Small House Woodworking and mom and wife of the Small household. Small House Woodworking is a family-inspired small business based in Ottawa, Ontario. After moving into our current home in 2020, our son was born and so to was my passion for woodworking. During my time off with my son, I'd spend his nap times making things for him or for our new home. I liked learning new skills, the challenge of a new project and the fulfilment I got from each successfully completed creation. Fast forward to 2024 when, after a year back at my job as a public servant, I wasn't happy so I decided to pause my almost 15 year career to try and turn the hobby I had grown to love and was missing into something more. With thanks to my sweet little family for their support and encouragement, here we are! 

I am motivated, resourceful and detail-oriented. I am keen to continue developing my craft and am always open to trying something new. I offer a completely personalized approach and enjoy working with clients to realize their vision and create beautiful custom pieces and furnishings for their spaces.
